Introduction to Creating Content for Asynchronous Courses

Use this module in your asynchronous courses to outline weekly/unit-based learning. Feel free to duplicate this module as many times as you'd like! In order to encourage equitable course design, this async module has been built to emphasize the following:

intuitive and mobile-friendly navigation
clear outlining of learning goals
clear course patterns
easy-to-read chunked pages to help students navigate and digest learning content
transparent grading criteria to clarify expectations
extended resources and support to support students

When building in your own course, keep in mind these above items as they are best practice for online teaching (and really best practice no matter the modality). If you choose to use this template, review each page and modify and/or remove elements as you deem necessary. Pay close attention to the <blue highlighted text> as these are areas where you should customize information. Before you publish these pages in your course, be sure that they are accessible! Asynchronous Course Design Highlight: Starting with Objectives

Every content module should begin with objectives so students are aware of not only what they are learning but how they are expected to show what they know at the end of the module. Writing objectives clearly takes practice! As you create your objectives, use Bloom's Taxonomy verbs to help make your objectives demonstrable.
